ChapterFive

“The result is an album that oscillates between lush density and contemplative minimalism. It invites introspection, occasionally laced with moments of quiet euphoria.” - Chain D.L.K.

"It’s a classy, cerebral but emotionally drawn experience that borders on the filmic, the magical, more reflective and near haunted. A truly immersive experience." - Monolith Cocktail

"French artist Arnaud Castagné, with his fifth album, takes us on a journey to the edges of time—back to an era when the fusion of electronic and acoustic elements had yet to establish itself as a new language, and the acoustic component still resonated fearlessly." - Rockerilla

And allthings beginto drift

"Memory Scale, the project of Bordeaux's Arnaud Castagné, operates in a sort of liminal, magical realism space. [...] A remarkable and beautifully haunting collection." - Electronic Sound issue #104

"It offers brief handfuls of sonic “oenotherapy,” barely hinted at, coupled with intimate, unexpected, solitary, and captivating psychedelia. A delightful album." - Mirco Salvadori, Rockerilla

"More to the point is that the mood and near-surgical attention to detail mean that the organic unity of each track feels effortless, free of posturing or browbeating intention." - Musique Machine

"And All Things Begin To Drift takes the listener on a captivating sonic journey. Delicate melodies blend harmoniously with atmospheric textures, creating an immersive experience where the boundaries between the conscious and unconscious blur. " - Solenopole

SoftPower

"A spellbinding, all encompassing, and organic collection of tranquilized audio miniatures capturing the essence of microtones and abstract ambient projections. A tangibly cinematic aural universe." - Igloo Electronic Music Magazine / Best Album of 2021 Selection

"Soft Power is the reflection of a microscopic world teeming with scattered events and poetic swings, a mirror effect of stories buried in the depths of a memory with erased scars, a fantastic epic freed from all form of weightlessness. Magical." - Silence and Sound

The shadowand the shape

"The nine tracks of this new album roam the paths taken by Tycho, BoC, Floating Points and Lali Puna, and remind us of the finest hours of labels such as City Center Office or Morr Music whose legacy is beyond doubt. Enigmatic and timeless, "The Shadow And The Shape" aptly describes misty mornings, a threatening sky tinged with white and gray and charged with melancholy, like a sweet poetic and subtle parenthesis. Memory Scale, or when the machines touch the soul."

The analogsunsetmemories

"Blending together ambient and electronica, Memory Scale creates a world all of its own that features various soundscapes, glitch like fx and more. […] Somewhere hidden within the notes and melodies is a retro 1980's feeling - almost like a slight nod to the early emergence of synths." - Rural Sounds, march 2019
